A Map. Léarscáil

A drawing inscribed in Irish Limestone
2010/2011

Main contractor: Irish Natural Stone Ltd.
Client: Mary Immaculate College, Limerick
Architect: Hugh Kelly

A ‘map’ of the river Shannon, from Killaloe to the estuary. In this work, the central idea was to position the college in its environment, not only in the topological sense, but from multiple viewpoints - historical, cultural, educational, social, and political and so on. The work takes the form of a drawing, measuring eight by thirteen meters, engraved into a limestone clad wall of the recently completed ‘Tara’ building
